OSSIA New Music strives to offer a musical alternative to Eastman and the greater Rochester community through artistic experimentation, performance of cutting-edge works, and active engagement with the world of contemporary music. With Eastman Performing Arts and Medicine, OSSIA seeks to expand its mission by offering a musical alternative in the Flaum Atrium.

The performance will consist of 2 hours of continuous music with performers distributed throughout the Atrium. Drawing on the aesthetics of ambient and meditative music and the open and mobile form structures of improvised musics, performers will utilize sustained sounds and elegant gestures. Listeners can expect to hear violin, found percussion, Chinese flute, and more, aided by expressive electronic processing. The audience is invited to enter, leave, and move around the Atrium freely, taking up different vantage points to create their own listening experience.
