Lexi Kunz

Secretary

Lexi Kunz is a third-year undergraduate student at the Eastman School of Music, University of Rochester, studying percussion performance and minoring in business. She is from southern Illinois, outside of St. Louis, and has been a percussionist since age 10.

Lexi actively participates in the Eastman Wind Orchestra, Eastman School Symphony Orchestra, Chamber Percussion Ensemble, and various chamber groups, such as the Eastman Horn Choir, Saxophone Project, and OSSIA. She advocates for female musicians and percussionists, in hopes of one day joining a major symphony orchestra and being an example for young, female percussionists, just as her inspirations have been for her.

In the summer of 2023, Lexi advanced to the semi-finals at the Modern Snare Drum Competition and attended the Sō Percussion Summer Institute at Princeton. She also was a recipient of the Percussive Arts Society International Conference Scholarship. This past summer, Lexi attended the Eastern Music Festival in North Carolina. Lastly, Lexi plays in the Alton Municipal Band, a community ensemble, during her summer free time as well.

In Lexi’s free time, she enjoys reading, doing yoga, and going on outings in the city. Lexi expresses gratitude for her family, professor Michael Burritt, and private teachers at home, Daniel Smithiger and Alan Stewart, for their unwavering support and encouragement.
